Get It Together Giveaway Week 2!!!

Alright, congrats again to Marianne for being my first winner!

Week 2 is upon us and like I said, I want to help everyone (including myself) get organized in the new year. Last weeks giveaway was good, but I like this week's better. In this week's Organization Bundle I am giving away a blue Mom's Planner Organizer, a magnetic "To-Do" List, Mom & Me chapsticks (because as busy as we all are we have to keep our lips healthy - and there are 3 chapsticks so no matter how unorganized you are you should be able to find one!) and Absolutely Organized: A Mom's Guide to a No-Stress Schedule and Clutter-Free Home by Debbie Lillard. It's a well written, informative book that has great ideas for organinzing your life through your time, belongings and home. It's a book I wish someone had given me to read before I had a baby because the tips are so helpful.

That being said, you can earn up to 4 entries for this giveaway just like before! Please comment seperately for each entry (so if you blog about the contest write a comment, if you follow write a seperate comment, etc).

1.) Comment with your best time management solution.
2.) Blog about this contest on your blog with a link back to mine.
3.) Follow Me.
4.) Put my button on your blog.

Again - if you already follow and you already have my button just comment (seperatley) with that. This contest is open until next Thursday 1/15/09 11:59pm. The winner will again be chosen by the integer generator at Random.org.

Good luck!

The best time management solution for me is to leave an extra 10 minutes early for an appointment. I found I was chronically in a rush and that stresses me out so leaving a bit earlier relieves that.

ok best time management solution...well prepare the night before. Most of my time management stuff is about having to go out with the kids to appointments or something. So if I know I am going to have a busy morning..then I try to have everything ready to go the night before. I get their clothes and things set out, have theirs and my bags packed, and even with my daughter I will have her tube feeding and medicine ready to go the night before. That way I dont have to rush so much in the morning.

My best time management solution is pretty basic. I plan my mornings the night before. The bakcpacks are packed, clothes are out, coats and boots are laid out bu the door and I already know exactly what the kids will eat for breakfast. Its sounds simple but it makes my mornings so much easier!

i must say my best time management solution is to do things while youre walking and driving, like if you have to make a phone call to set an appointment do it while your walking the dog...

My best time management would be to make sure the kids have their clothes picked out for the week (socks and undies included) My 6 year old has an organizer that hangs from the closet with Mon-Fri cubbies. That way it is not a hassle in the morning to get dressed :)

I try to manage time by getting up a bit earlier than I need to - that way I don't feel 'rushed' when I'm trying to leave in the morning, because I usually have a bit of extra time left.

Prep your Monday night dinner on Sunday night before bed. Chop up the veggies, pre-cook meats, it makes dinner prep after work or while kids are running around so much more streamline!

I use a Franklin planner, have for years, because I LOVE feeling organized (and I have no short-term memory).

OK, I have very poor time management, but one thing I do do is try to make a bunch of food on the weekend that I can prepare easily during the week.

(PS~ what does it say about me that I made myself giggle cause I wrote do do in my answer? lol)

My best time mamnagement solution sounds counter-intuitive, but it works. When you have a moment, breathe. Take a deep breathe, think of your "word for the year" (mine is smile) and take another breath. Clearing your head, getting the brain cells a break, really helps you get things done.

My best time management solution... well, I would have to say would be to clean as I go. If I am going into another room, I just grab something that belongs there. If I could just do that ALL the time....

Write it all down would be my best time managment tip. If you try to keep everything in your mind you spend alot of time trying to remember it. Wasting just 12 minutes 5 times a day is an hour wasted. So write it down and you want waste time trying to remember it.

My best time management solution is keeping a day planner in which if something pops into my head, I try and write it down immeditaely so I don't forget things! It saves me time trying to think about what I was going to do in the first place instead of wasting time trying to remember! This works great for grocery lists!

My comment?
I have not time management help to offer...hence, WHY I NEED to win!

I have a VERY crazy schedule with working 40 hrs a week,3 boys & one with cerebral palsy (so many dr. appt, therapies, school, etc).

I always run around in circles and would love this book to learn how to get 'something' in my life organized.

My best time management area would be that I own two vacuums and keep them near an outlet on each side of the house. My house isn't that big, but I vacuum it all the time. I keep one near the hallway, so in the morning while waiting for my daughter to finish getting ready for school, I vacuum the hallway and dining area. At night, after doing the dishes, I usually grab the other vacuum which is parked near an outlet for the living room and vacuum in the living room. I know this sounds a bit OCD, but I have dogs and cats and if I don't vacuum everyday, my vacuums get clogged up or break, which takes up a whole ton of time to unclog or money to buy a new one, plus I love a clean carpet!

My best time managment solution is if we are going away the next day, like, a couple of hours away from home, we pack the car the night before, and shower and bath. Then all we have to do when we get up is get dressed, do our hair, and go. For breakfast, we usually eat muffins, dry cereal, toast, anything to eat on the go. It saves so much time and fuss.

My best time management solution is to add everything to the calendar of your phone so that the alarm goes off. I don't forget anything that way.

My best time management solution is to keep me from spending too much time in the shower. I set a timer for 15 minutes, hand my son a basket of laundry and tell him to start the washer when the timer goes off. I get out of the shower REAL fast when the water turns cold!

Safire said...

Oh, my best time management tip is to do a 10 minute pick up once the kids are in bed. I set the timer, pick up all the toys, sweep, mop if I have time, wipe counters and dust a little. I've got it down to a science. Then when that is done, I've got the rest of the evening to myself in a cleaner house.

Time management? Ummm, why do you think I need to the book so badly! On a good day I'm able to fool myself into believing that the car clock (set 6 minutes fast) is correct - and then we're miraculously on time!

The BEST time management ever is when my computer goes out and I don't have a book I'm reading... THEN I gets TONS done :)

This might seem a little goofy, but one of the best things I do is pack my lunch at night! I HATE having to go out & get lunch so I always TRY to take one. You never realize how much TIME it takes until you're running late one morning & trying to grab stuff out of the fridge!

Wanda said...

I'm a late person....so, I have to set my clock ahead (I know...psychologically crazy).
I also have to get stuff out the night before.

One of my best time management decisions was to teach my son and daughters to do their own laundry. I was spending way too much time on laundry, so one day I watched my 12 year old working the vcr/dvd player and then hooking up his playstation and playing all sorts of games. I thought, if he can work those things, he can work a washer and dryer. Within a month all three were doing their own laundry, freeing up tons of time for me to spend on other things. My best time management tip --

Getting it together before bed:

Everynight AFTER kids go to bed, but before I lay down, whether we have appointments or not, I get their bags together as if we have to go out anyhow. That way we are prepared for last minute outtings (doctor, friend/family stops by, last min grocery shopping, etc).

During winter, I toss food in the crock pot so there's dinner for the next day already on.

I've heard of it being done, and I need to begin it myself...placing a bag/pocket next to door for keys, mail to be sent off, bills to be paid, etc so it's ready to grab & go when we are.

This is just what I need...Oye!

My best time management solution is setting a timer each morning while my daughter is taking her nap. 20 minutes, that's all. And doing as much picking up, cleaning, load starting, etc. that I can. It's pretty impressive what I can get done in 20 minutes! And it's like I'm challenging myself, so I don't fiddle around ;)
